What is “health related fitness”?

This is not just being free from disease. We mean by this your ability to wake up refreshed in the morning, to be able to go to work, college or deal with the family and then maybe to play football with the kids in the evening, or help with their homework or to socialise with friends and to get to the end of the day without collapsing into bed totally exhausted!

In other words you are fit enough to cope with whatever it is you need to do in a day. This is harder than we realise in today’s demanding world. The World Health Organisation (“WHO”) from as long ago as 1948 said

“…. positive health is more than being disease free – it is about “complete physical, mental and social wellbeing”
Beaglehole, Bonita and Kjellstrom 1993.

So why 30 minutes?

The 30minuteclub is committed to help you achieve 30 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week. The science proves that this is of great benefit to your physical and mental wellbeing . Also, 30 minutes, even in two blocks of fifteen minutes, is achievable for all of us. It’s that simple!
